Weeks 13- 28 of the pregnancy constitutes Second Trimester of Pregnancy. In this stage of pregnancy, some First Trimester symptoms may continue, some of them will go away, and some new symptoms will make their appearance. This happens to be the most comfortable and enjoyable stage for the mother.
From the First trimester symptoms, Morning sickness, nausea and vomiting will go away in this period. Symptoms like Urinary frequency, constipation, heartburn and indigestion may still continue.
Among the new symptoms making appearance in Second Trimester are increasing belly size, stretching of skin, stretch marks, darkening of skin, abdominal and low back pain, nerve tingling, itching of stretched skin. Because of surge of estrogen and progesterone, there may be symptoms like white discharge from vagina, nasal congestion, spongier gums, bleeding gums and bleeding from nose (Epistaxis).
The mother will start to feel the fetal movements (Quickening) between 18th and 24th week (Usually during 5th month).
